- Provenance
- Based on the dates given for the Multnomah County Fair (September 21-24) in the poster on the back wall, this photo was likely taken in 1911, the first year of circulation for the Gresham Outlook. This photo shows the second location in the Sell Building on Main Street, where the Outlook moved after tenants in the prior location complained that the press shook the building. Through the newspaper, owner/publisher H.L. St. Clair was an enthusiastic booster and advocate for Gresham; he and his wife Lena were influential in maintaining the city's clean, churchgoing reputation.
