Provenance

Dr. Short was Gresham's second mayor, from 1907 to 1908. He also worked as a medical doctor, traveling around Gresham and the surrounding countryside by carriage to make house calls. His daughter, Dorothea Short Gilmore, later recalled that he often accepted farm produce as payment for his services. He employed Frank Escobar as a handyman, and Escobar installed the town's first indoor plumbing system in Dr. Short's home.
