The letter squad follows, made up of girls each carrying a large white shield with a red letter that together spells out the word "[C]ENTENNIAL" (the C is out of frame); all wearing a uniform consisting of black skirt and boots, blue blouse, and black hat with a red plume. The wind players are in formation behind them in a "company front" with all members in a horizontal line facing forward, all wearing a uniform consisting of a black suit with white, red, and blue overlay or bib, white fluffy shako, and black shoes with white spats; the drumline is partially visible at the back, wearing a uniform that consists of black flared pants, red and light blue blouses, and black hats with red feather plume.

- Donated by Suzanne (Suzie) Deters, nee Gutfleisch, who appears in this photo carrying the second "N". She participated in the marching band her freshman and sophomore years at Centennial and graduated with the class of 1986. This photo was taken her sophomore year, when the Centennial High School band won the Rose Festival sweepstakes for the fifth year in a row. The Festival of Bands was also part of the Rose Festival and occurred the night before the Grand Floral Parade.
