This article is about the new city hall fire station that is going to be built with federal aid. This is different because the federal government is providing manpower instead of money. The Seabee and Marine reservists will be donating time and labor, and the city pays for material. This ends up costing the city of Lowel $10k instead of $60k. The Seabees were working on the weekends during the summer, it took longer only working 2 days a week. The building has 4,100 sq ft. At the time, they needed more funding to finish the office spaces inside and invest in a fire truck.
